ESO: Workbench app review - an unofficial iOS companion app for The Elder Scrolls Online
Introduction
In the world of PC videogames there is only one genre that rules the world at the moment: the MMORPG. A Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game is a game where thousands of people play in one huge world together and against each other to become the greatest hero or faction the world has ever seen. These games are so full of content and possibilities that it can be very hard to keep track of everything your character can do. This is why developer Augmented Lab has created ESO: Workbench to be a companion app for players of The Elder Scrolls Online. This app is compatible with both iPad and iPhone.
What it Offers
I don’t have to explain this to players of MMORPGs. There are so many different armor, weapons, potions, and other items in the game that you will need to be able to keep track of what you have. This is where this app comes in. Not only can you save in the app what you already have, but you can also find out how you can craft all these different items. You can also find out within this app what different traits every single crafting item in the world holds, positive and negative, and you can find this out with this app before feeding it to your character. All in all this is a very handy app for your travels to the world of Tamriel.
Free Version vs Full Version
The business model of this app is very well-crafted. As you will play the first few hours and days of the game on your PC, you have access to everything you will need in the app for free, as mainly the higher content is locked behind an in-app purchase. So when you are properly addicted to The Elder Scrolls Online, you will be starting to need this app for the higher-level equipment and potions, meaning that by taking advantage of your addiction, the developer will ask only $0.99 for unlocking all the content.
Pros and Cons
Pros
Cons
Conclusion
This app is a must-have for anyone that plays TESO, no matter what level you are playing on. If you are a very high level, you might as well want to unlock the app straight away, as the lower-level information won’t be of much interest for you anymore. The app looks great and is easy to use. You can even set timers for research you’re doing in game so you will get a notification on your phone when it’s done. The app is compatible with both iPad and iPhone and is just under 19 MB.
